ADVOCACY
Social justice, disability, and environmental advocacy are very important to me. As a chronically-ill introvert, the pandemic has given me a unique opportunity to get more involved in this work via Zoom. I also live in an amazing community with passionate and supportive advocates. This page is dedicated to those people and groups in Fairbanks which are the lifeblood of our community.

TIPS FOR GETTING INVOLVED
As grad students we often think of ourselves as transients in the community that we are in. We are also often inundated (or even drowning) in our own work so it's hard to imagine having time for such important advocacy issues. So here are some tips that have helped me along the way.

Doing a little is always better than nothing
Set boundaries and priorities for yourself
Make sure your intentions are genuine
Even if your time at grad school means you'll be moving on, the skills you learn and connections you establish can help you with your advocacy work in your permanent community.
